READY TO EXPERIENCE THE WILDLIFE PARK?

See Animals You Might Never See in the Wild

Many Arctic animals are extremely difficult to spot in their natural environment due to their shyness, vast habitats, and harsh conditions. In Ranua Wildlife Park, you have a rare opportunity to observe these species up close in surroundings that reflect their natural habitat.

This allows you to truly appreciate their behavior, appearance, and the way they have adapted to life in the Arctic—something that would be nearly impossible to experience on your own.

Great for Families, Learning & Lasting Memories

This experience is perfect for all ages, combining education, nature, and shared moments in a relaxed setting. Whether you’re traveling as a family, a couple, or on your own, the visit offers something meaningful for everyone.

With plenty of time to explore and take photos, you’ll leave not only with memories, but also with a deeper understanding of Arctic wildlife and the environment they live in.

Meet One of the Local Guides & Experience the Tour

Get a real feeling for the experience before your Arctic wildlife adventure begins.

In this short video, Arctic Safari Guides founder and local guide Timo introduces the atmosphere of Ranua Wildlife Park, the Arctic animals and what makes this experience different from a standard self-guided visit.

You’ll also see the relaxed pace, small-group atmosphere and personal guiding style that allow you to experience the park in a calmer and more meaningful way.

With local guides who know the area, the animals and their behavior well, the experience becomes more than simply seeing wildlife — it becomes a deeper connection to Arctic nature and life in the North.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY?

4.8 based on 12 reviews

”This was a fantastic day from the time our guide picked us up at our hotel to returning us. Timo displayed a wealth of knowledge not just about the wildlife but was also happy to answer general questions about Finland. At the park Timo took time to explain each of the wildlife enclosures giving us interesting information about the animals. He ensured we didn't miss feeding times for the Polar Bear and Artic foxes. We had plenty of time to take in all the animals. it was a magical day. A fantastic bonus is the pictures that he took of the animals and sent to us in a link after the trip."

Janine - Australia

”The trip to Ranua Wildlife Park was really great! There were only two of us, and the tour went ahead anyway. Our guide, Timo, picked us up from our accommodation and told us a lot about Finland on the way to Ranua. Once we got there, he was also able to tell us a lot of interesting details about the park and the animals. He tailored the pace and content to our interests and gave us lots of useful tips. In the end, he also helped me get a last-minute appointment with the dentist and even drove us there. Thank you very much for that!"

Is this experience suitable for children?

Yes — this experience is very family-friendly and well suited for children of different ages.

Ranua Wildlife Park is designed to make the visit comfortable and enjoyable for families, with stroller-friendly paths, wagons available for children and several play areas throughout the park.

The relaxed pace, Arctic animals and natural forest surroundings help create a fun, interesting and memorable day for younger visitors as well as adults.

Are the animals active during winter?

Yes. Winter is actually one of the most atmospheric times to visit the park. Many Arctic animals are naturally adapted to snowy conditions and often appear very comfortable and active during colder weather.

Will we see the polar bears?

Ranua Wildlife Park is now home to three polar bears — two newer arrivals together with one long-time resident of the park. In December 2025, the park also opened a large new polar bear habitat designed to better reflect the animals’ natural Arctic environment.

It is very likely that you will see at least one of the polar bears during your visit, and most guests usually see all three.

However, the animals move freely within their habitat areas, so visibility can never be 100% guaranteed — just like with any wild Arctic animal.

Ranua Wildlife Park is open year-round, and many Arctic animals are actually most active during winter conditions. Snow often makes the park atmosphere even more beautiful and authentic.

The walking routes inside the park are maintained regularly, and transportation takes place in premium winter-equipped vehicles designed for Lapland conditions.

If weather or road conditions were ever considered unsafe, the experience could be adjusted or cancelled for safety reasons.

Why is this experience different from standard wildlife park transfers?

  • small groups

  • local guiding

  • relaxed pacing

  • Arctic wildlife insights

  • professional photos

  • a more personal overall experience

Many guests later tell us they are happy they didn’t visit the park on their own.

How do you ensure sustainability in your tours?

Ranua Wildlife Park plays an important role in Arctic wildlife conservation, research and education. By visiting the park, guests directly support long-term work that helps protect rare northern animal species and Arctic biodiversity.

Although the park is a wildlife park, the animals live in environments designed to reflect their natural habitats as closely as possible. Many of the animals in the park would not survive in the wild due to injuries, orphaning or other circumstances.

The park also participates in international conservation and breeding programs that help support the future of endangered Arctic species.

We believe responsible tourism should not only create memorable experiences for guests, but also contribute positively to the future of Arctic nature and wildlife.
