This is not a large commercial husky centre. Inka and Jussi share their lives with around 34 Arctic sled dogs, training and competing with them as part of their passion and way of life. Your Own Time at the Farm — No Other Customer Groups

During your Arctic Safari Guides visit, there are no other customer groups at the farm. This creates a relaxed and personal experience where you have time to meet Vasco and the other huskies, talk with Inka and Jussi, ask questions, and hear stories about sled dogs, racing and life at the farm without feeling rushed.

Guide-Driven Husky Ride — Just Sit Back & Enjoy

Experience the excitement of travelling with a team of Arctic sled dogs without having to drive the sled yourself. An experienced guide handles the dog team while you sit back and enjoy the ride and Arctic scenery. During your visit, they’ll introduce you to their husky family and share what life with working sled dogs is really like — from daily care and training to preparing dogs for sled-dog races. You’ll have time to ask questions, hear their stories and understand the special relationship between mushers and their dogs.

This isn’t simply where they work. It’s their home and their way of life.

During your visit, our Arctic Safari Guides group is the only customer group at the husky farm. There are no other groups arriving at the same time, giving you a more relaxed and personal experience with Inka, Jussi and their dogs.

Frequently asked questions

Do I drive the husky sled myself?

No. This experience includes a guide-driven husky ride, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery while an experienced guide handles the dog team. No previous husky or sled-driving experience is required.

Who is Vasco?

Vasco is the farm's friendly free-roaming husky and unofficial welcoming committee. He lives at the farm and is known for greeting arriving visitors with a wagging tail. If Vasco is in the mood for visitors, there is a good chance you'll meet him during your stay.

Is this a private husky farm visit?

During your scheduled visit, our Arctic Safari Guides group is the only customer group at the farm. This gives you more time with Inka, Jussi and their dogs in a relaxed and personal atmosphere.

Our Standard experience may still include other Arctic Safari Guides guests. If you want the entire experience exclusively for your own family or travel party, simply add the Private Experience upgrade from the Extras section when booking.

Are professional photographs really included?

Yes. Your Arctic Safari Guides guide takes photographs throughout the experience, allowing you to concentrate on the dogs and enjoy the moment instead of experiencing everything through your phone.

The best photographs are professionally edited and delivered digitally in high resolution within three business days.

During the darkest weeks of the Arctic winter, limited natural light and changing weather conditions may affect the style and quality of the photographs.

Who are Inka and Jussi?

Inka and Jussi are the owners of this small family-run husky farm. Life with sled dogs is their passion and way of life. They train and compete with their dogs and share their knowledge about everything from everyday care and training to the history of dog sledding and sled-dog racing.

Is the experience suitable for children?

Yes. This is a family-friendly experience, and children can enjoy meeting the dogs and riding with an experienced guide. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

What happens if there isn't enough snow?

Huskies don't stop exercising when there is no snow. During autumn, the dogs run with a wheeled cart instead of a traditional sled.

During the transition into winter, the exact type of ride depends on snow and trail conditions. Safety and the wellbeing of the dogs always determine how the activity is operated.

What should I wear?

Dress warmly according to the weather. During winter, proper winter clothing, warm footwear, gloves and a hat are essential, as temperatures in Lapland can become very cold.

If you don't have suitable Arctic clothing, a Winter Clothing Set can be added to your booking as an optional extra.

How are the huskies cared for?

The farm is home to around 34 Arctic sled dogs. For Inka and Jussi, the dogs are much more than part of a tourism activity – living, training and competing with sled dogs is their passion and way of life.

During your visit, you'll have the opportunity to learn directly from them about the dogs' daily care, feeding, training, exercise and life at the farm, and you're welcome to ask questions about the dogs and their wellbeing.

How long is the husky ride?

The ride varies according to the season:

15 September–15 November: guide-driven husky cart ride through the autumn forest.
17 November–31 December: approximately 3 km husky sled ride.
1 January–31 March: approximately 5 km husky sled ride, depending on safe snow and ice conditions.

Is pickup from Rovaniemi included?

Yes. Pickup and drop-off from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and round-trip transportation to the husky farm are included.

Your Arctic Safari Guides guide will also introduce you to Lapland, its nature, culture and local life during the journey.

Will the experience be cancelled because of bad weather?

The experience operates in different Arctic weather conditions. However, because we work with living animals, the wellbeing of the dogs and safe operating conditions always come first. The programme or exact schedule may therefore occasionally need to be adjusted.

Yes. If you would like to enjoy the entire experience exclusively with your own family or travel party, you can upgrade your booking to a Private Experience.

Simply select your seasonal experience — Autumn, Early Winter or Winter — and add the Private Experience upgrade from the Extras section when making your booking.

With the Private upgrade, no other Arctic Safari Guides guests will join your group. Your group will also remain the only customer group visiting the husky farm during your scheduled visit.
