Amazing guide, he really did everything to make sure we could see northern lights and even extended the trip (for free) after asking us if it was okay or if we had to go home. Thanks to this generosity we ended up seeing incredible lights! The sausages and homemade glögi were amazing too :)) Absolutely worth it especially for this price.

The guide was super friendly and helpful. This activity showed us a frozen lake site under a beautiful starry sky. Plus, we got to see a bunch of Northern Lights. What an unforgettable evening! The icing on the cake was that our guide was kind enough to take us back to our hotel. It's a really great activity that's also very affordable.

We just finished our tour, and it truly exceeded my expectations. Although we weren’t able to do the campfire barbecue and hot drinks, it was completely understandable since it was extremely cold outside (around -26°C). We were totally okay with that and it didn’t take away from the experience at all. Our tour guide was amazing, very accommodating, knowledgeable, and great at explaining everything. Most importantly, he took incredible Northern Lights photos that my daughter and I will cherish for the rest of our lives. We were lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights dancing in the sky, which was such a surreal and unforgettable moment. Skip the big companies and go with someone local. He knows amazing spots and will even stop driving if he sees the Northern Lights on the way—that’s how accommodating and dedicated he is to making this experience special. This tour is way, way cheaper, probably the cheapest you’ll find among all the tours here and it is totally worth it!!!! -Chris

We stumbled upon it by chance at the very last moment, and it was a pleasant surprise! The description of the excursion should be reviewed because it was a "real" hunt for the northern lights, with photos taken by the guide (Finnish by birth). By the way, what a guide! Wow! Persevering, with great knowledge and super equipment, as well as a top-notch van (we were two French-speaking families, that's 8). He brought us to the right place ;) despite the bad weather for seeing the auroras (bad Kp and bz indices) - night of 12/20-21. Don't hesitate to book this human, simple, and authentic excursion! Thanks for everything 🙏🏼

Frequently asked questions

Can you really guarantee the Northern Lights?

No one can guarantee the Northern Lights themselves, as they are a natural phenomenon. However, we guarantee that if we are not able to capture a photo of you with the Aurora during the tour, you can join another hunt for free or receive a full refund.

Where do we go during the hunt?

The route is not fixed. We choose the direction based on real-time weather forecasts, cloud conditions and Aurora activity. We may travel within the Rovaniemi area or further if needed to find clear skies.

What happens if we don’t see the Northern Lights?

If the Aurora doesn’t appear in your photos, you’ll have the option to rebook another available tour at no extra cost. If that doesn’t fit your schedule, you will receive a full refund.

Do I need a camera or photography skills?

No. We take professional photos during the tour, and you will receive your images afterwards. You can simply enjoy the experience without worrying about camera settings if you don't like.

Will the tour be cancelled due to weather?

Unlike many standard Northern Lights tours that visit fixed locations or may be cancelled due to challenging forecasts, this experience is built around flexibility. We actively search for clear skies and adapt our route throughout the evening to maximize your chances of seeing the Aurora.

The tour operates even when forecasts look difficult, and we may travel long distances — including into Sweden or Norway when necessary — to find better conditions.

Please note that the tour is never cancelled simply because cloud cover is expected or Aurora forecasts appear weak.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes. No prior experience is needed. This tour is designed to be easy and accessible — you just need to join and enjoy the experience.

How long is the tour?

This is not a fixed-length sightseeing tour.

The experience typically lasts 6–10 hours, depending on weather conditions, cloud coverage and the distance required to find clear skies.

Some nights the Northern Lights appear quickly near Rovaniemi. On other nights, we may travel much farther — sometimes even into Sweden or Norway — to maximize your chances of seeing the Aurora.

We believe flexibility is one of the key reasons this experience has such a high success rate. Rather than ending the tour at a predetermined time, we focus on giving you the best possible opportunity to experience the Northern Lights.

Where does the tour start?

We will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Rovaniemi, and drop you off after the tour.
