”I had the absolute pleasure of doing this tour with Timo! He is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and he explains everything about the area while also making great conversation along the way. The Korouoma waterfalls were amazing. The snowy landscape and views were definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Finland. A BBQ is included in the trip, which was also delicious. Timo makes sure everyone has a suitable option, including vegetarian choices if needed. All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend booking with Timo, especially if you’re travelling solo!

Is this tour suitable for beginners?
This tour is suitable for people with a normal level of fitness, but it is not considered an easy walk. The terrain can be challenging at times, especially in winter conditions.
Can I fly a drone during the tour?
Yes, but you are responsible for checking current regulations. As this is a protected nature area, it’s important to respect both nature and other visitors.
How difficult is the hike?
The hike is moderate. The trail includes elevation changes, uneven terrain, and can be slippery. A basic level of fitness and stable footing are recommended.
Can I visit Korouoma on my own?
Yes, but the terrain and winter conditions can be demanding. Proper planning, equipment, and awareness of conditions are essential for a safe experience.
What should I wear?
Warm winter clothing is essential. We recommend layered clothing, thermal base layers, gloves, a hat, and proper winter shoes. If needed, additional winter gear can be provided.
Can you walk anywhere in Korouoma Canyon?
No. Movement is practically limited to marked trails due to the terrain. Leaving the trail can be difficult and even dangerous in winter conditions.
For safety reasons and to protect the environment, we always stay on marked routes.
Why is your Korouoma tour slightly more expensive than others?
This tour is designed to offer a higher-quality and more personal experience.
Group sizes are kept small (maximum 8 participants), allowing for a relaxed pace and individual attention. You are guided by Timo, Mikko or Ari, local experts with strong roots to Posio—the region where Korouoma Canyon is located—bringing deeper knowledge of the area and its nature.
The tour is carefully planned to reach the most impressive frozen waterfalls while avoiding unnecessary crowds.
Unlike many tours, we don’t rush. The focus is on a calm and unhurried experience, giving you time to truly enjoy the canyon and its unique scenery.
Are there toilets available?
There are basic facilities available at certain points, but not along the entire route. Your guide will inform you about the best times to use them.

Yes. After the hike, we enjoy a traditional lunch at a cozy local wilderness café near Korouoma Canyon.
Warm drinks and fresh coffee are also included, offering a comfortable and authentic way to relax after the winter hike.
Do I need traction cleats or spikes?
No — you do not need to bring your own traction cleats or spikes.
Safety is very important to us, and we always carry ice cleats with us if we feel trail conditions require them during the hike in Korouoma Canyon.
Can I join if I have no previous hiking experience?
Yes, but you should be prepared for a moderately demanding hike. Good basic fitness and confidence walking on uneven or slippery terrain will help you enjoy the experience.
Can I take photos during the tour?
Absolutely. Korouoma offers some of the most impressive frozen waterfalls in Lapland, and there is plenty of time for photography.
Who is responsible for maintaining Korouoma in winter?
The trails and facilities are maintained by Metsähallitus.
Are you part of the official Metsähallitus partnership program?
Yes. All tour operators must be part of this program. We pay a fee to Metsähallitus, which allows us to use maintained routes and facilities responsibly.
How do you ensure sustainability in your tours?
I have lived most of my life in Lapland, so taking care of nature is a natural part of who I am.
Everything we bring into the area is also carried out. We follow a strict leave-no-trace approach, use bio-based tableware, and offer vegetarian meal options.
All tours stay on marked trails to protect both the environment and the safety of our guests.
