Why I Created Arctic Safari Guides?

And Why We Do Things Differently?

Most visitors come to Lapland dreaming about the same things.

  • Seeing the Northern Lights.

  • Meeting Santa Claus.

  • Walking through snow-covered forests.

  • Experiencing the magic of the Arctic winter.

What many don't realize is that the guide you choose can make the difference between a good trip and a truly unforgettable one.

That is one of the reasons I created Arctic Safari Guides.

Lapland Has Always Been Part of My Life

I was born in Posio, a small municipality in Finnish Lapland.

Long before Riisitunturi and Korouoma became world-famous attractions, they were simply places where my family spent time together. We went hiking, fishing and berry picking without ever thinking that one day people would travel from the other side of the world to experience these same landscapes.

For me, Lapland was never a destination.

It was home.

What Tourism Taught Me

My career did not begin in tourism.

I studied education and public law, worked in media, and spent years creating marketing content for tourism companies throughout Lapland.

During that time, I had the opportunity to observe hundreds of tourism experiences from behind the scenes.

I learned what guests remember.

I learned what creates real value.

And I learned that many experiences become forgettable when groups become too large and schedules become too rushed.

The Problem with Modern Tourism

Lapland has become one of the world's most sought-after winter destinations.

That is wonderful.

But growth also creates challenges.

Too often, visitors find themselves moving from one attraction to another without ever slowing down enough to truly experience Lapland.

Large groups.
Tight schedules.
Little personal interaction.

For some companies, efficiency has become more important than experience.

I wanted to create something different.

Small Groups. Authentic Experiences.

At Arctic Safari Guides, we focus on experiences that feel personal.

Whether you are hunting the Northern Lights, exploring Riisitunturi National Park, ice fishing on a frozen lake or welcoming Santa Claus to your accommodation, our goal is always the same:

To create moments you will still remember years later.

Not because they were perfectly scripted.

But because they felt real.

Why Santa Experiences Matter

Many visitors travel thousands of kilometres to reach the Official Hometown of Santa Claus.

Meeting Santa should feel magical.

That is why we have created experiences that go beyond standing in a queue for a photo.

Imagine your children opening the door and finding Santa Claus and his Elf waiting outside.

Those are the kinds of memories that stay with families forever.

More Than a Tour

A guide's job is not simply to transport people from one place to another.

A good guide reads the weather, understands the group, adapts to changing conditions and knows when to let nature speak for itself.

Sometimes the best moments happen when nothing goes exactly according to plan.

Welcome to Lapland

If you are planning a winter holiday in Lapland, I invite you to experience it a little differently.

Smaller groups.

More personal service.

Less rushing.

More memories.

Because the best Lapland experiences are not measured in kilometres travelled or attractions visited.

They are measured in moments you never forget.
