Timo Tapaninen is the founder of Arctic Safari Guides and a native Laplander originally from Posio, the region next to Riisitunturi National Park. He has spent most of his adult life in Rovaniemi and has worked in the tourism industry in Lapland for more than 13 years.
Growing up surrounded by forests, lakes and the quiet wilderness of Eastern Lapland created a deep connection to Arctic nature and local life from an early age. Today, that same connection forms the foundation of the experiences created through Arctic Safari Guides.
Timo’s philosophy has always been simple:
create the kind of experiences he would personally want for his own friends and family visiting Lapland.
This means:

relaxed pacing
authentic local atmosphere
carefully designed experiences
safety-first thinking
and genuine connection to Arctic nature
In addition to tourism, Timo also works as a Creative Producer through his media and production company Evigo Oy, creating travel videos, photography and storytelling content across Lapland.
This background in visual storytelling has also shaped the Arctic Safari Guides experience style — where atmosphere, timing, light and authentic moments are considered just as important as the destination itself.
Alongside guiding and creative production, Timo has also worked as a DJ for more than 30 years, performing for international travelers, private groups and events throughout Lapland.
